Hi there. I’m Alasdair Welsh but many know me as simply Al. I’m an art director/creative director with extensive London experience.
All the work here is my own but I’ve directed a lot of other creatives too. My experience is unusually diverse including pure design, branding, packaging, DM, digital and TV. I’ve worked for many top agencies in Soho, often on big idea TV and multi channel campaigns.
I started my career around the time Bartle Bogle Hegarty was founded. In that time I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with lots of talented people, many of whom I came across at BBH where I worked for 11 years.
At my core I’m a designer and early on I realised the value of great ideas. I started to apply them to annual report design, brochures, corporate identities, direct mail and then later in ad campaigns, online and TV.

I got an email from John Hegarty saying he wish he’d done my ad which, while I can’t use it as an ornament is in any case rather nice to have.
